Required by lenders and generally a good idea regardless of whether you rent or own your home, renters insurance helps secure your valuables and protect your dwelling. Allstate offers a variety of home insurance products with several discounts available.
Personal property protection covers movable items of value within homes within specified coverage limits, and family liability protection covers damages for which homeowners would be legally liable. Guest medical protection covers medical expenses if a visitor is injured in your home in a covered accident, and additional living expenses coverage pays reasonable expenses if a home becomes uninhabitable due to a covered loss.
Policies can be tailored for homeowners, condominium owners, renters and mobile home owners to suit each group’s unique needs, and optional coverages can help replace the full cost of homes, detached structures, valuable personal belongings and other property. Flood insurance also is available and might be required depending on where you live. Most homeowner policies do not cover losses associated with flood damage unless flood insurance has been added.
Allstate offers several discounts for home, condo, mobile home and renters insurance. Depending on dwelling and insurance type, discounts are provided for having home and auto policies through Allstate and installing protective devices, such as smoke and burglar alarms, fire extinguishers and deadbolt locks. A house containing fire restrictive materials, like bricks and masonry, earns discounts as do houses built or renovated no more than 10 years ago.
Persons age 55 and older qualify for discounts regardless the type of insurance they purchase, and renewing policies on houses on which no claims have been filed earns up to a 35 percent discount on premiums. Mobile home owners qualify for special discounts for being original owners of mobile homes no more than five years old and having units “tied down,” anchored or bolted to the ground or foundation.
